Give School Uniforms to Cambodian Pupils

Help us reach 200% so that we can give 2 uniforms to each pupil instead of 1!

À propos du projet

Help us double our goal and purchase not 1 but 2 school uniforms for Cambodian orphans. Ideally each child should receive 2 uniform, so if you could donate €14 this will be strongly appreciated. Education allows children to grow and empower themselves, please support the children we care for. Thanks to your generosity, the children could look good to go to school. This will help them gain the necessary self-esteem, to push them further in their studies.

'Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world (Nelson Mandela)'

As one of the volunteers of Sreyka Smile Association, I discovered Cambodia, and myself, via a self-giving experience. I have volunteered with Sreyka Smile Association on two occasions, the first time as an English teacher for 4 months and the second time to assist with a dental care project for 3 weeks.

Sreyka Smile has been founded in 2011 by my close friend Stella-Desiree Bosch. Sreyka Smile association is a French NGO that aims to support the children and youth of the most underprivileged in Cambodia, and accompanies them on to a path of autonomy and independence, via projects of health, education and professional training.

Since the creation of Sreyka Smile, its projects have expanded thanks to the generosity of our donators, members and numerous volunteers. To find out more please:

In Cambodia all the children have to wear a uniform to be able to attend public school. The public school system in Cambodia is understaffed for which reason children attend either a morning or afternoon session. A large majority of the uniforms the kids currently use, have already been worn by several children, throughout the years. We have even noticed that some children who go to school in the morning will share their uniform with a friend who has the afternoon class. It is obvious that most of uniforms can no longer be worn as they are too damaged.

A quoi va servir le financement ?

Therefore I would like to raise funds to help the 380 kids that our association helps to get 2 new uniforms.

A uniform costs €7, so a kid we need €14: 380*14=€5320, our goal is to raise at least €5320 (2 uniforms per kid)

Any additional funds collected will be used to purchase school material, books or fund educational courses. Sreyka Smile Association pays additional private English classes and private high school tuition fees for some children. All these efforts are with the vision to prepare these kids for a prosperous future as an adult.

'Education promotes equality and lifts people out of poverty. It teaches children how to become good citizens. Education is not just for a privileged few, it is for everyone. It is a fundamental human right.'

Giving the kids a workshop on the Netherlands, they loved 'stroopwafels' but most did not like cheese and 'drop'..

À propos du porteur de projet

My name is Charlotte Schrieken and I used to be an international student (went from Rotterdam to Hong Kong, continued my master studies in Paris, moved to Berlin, explored my horizon in Congo (brazzaville) to finish off my international student lifestyle with a voluntary mission in Phnom Penh, Cambodia).

Today I work for Philips Healthcare as a marketing trainee where I am happy to contibute to its mission: 'Improving people's lives through meaningful innovation.' Happy at work and with my life in Amsterdam, I am still engaged with the wellbeing of the wonderful kids that I met in Cambodia as innovation is only one of the ways that we can help improve people's lives. I have been engaged with Sreyka Smile for about 3 years and can't imagine my life without it today, it just simply makes me happy to see the kids grow up and prosper as teenagers / young adults.
