Circus Ronaldo on tour with a cinema...

À propos du projet

Cinema Malfait: a travelling cinema

In Cinema Malfait, Circus Ronaldo presents the latest film of Gust Van den Berghe: Rain Anyway. Danny Ronaldo plays the lead role, together with Isolda Dychauck, Mieke Dobbels, Bruno Vanden Broucke, Jan Bijvoet, Willeke Van Ammelrooy and Karel Creemers.

Instead of showing the film in the classical way, Rain Anyway with its barracks and characters can set off on a longer journey, just like Circus Ronaldo has been doing for generations. Cinema Malfait guarantees you an unforgetable evening in very original scenery. You can enjoy a charming film screening, exclusively presented to you by the circus director from the film himself: César Malfait. You won't have to travel very far, beacuse this cinema will definitely come to your neighborhood in the coming year.

For the purchase and construction of this barrack we would like to call on your cooperation. With your possible contribution, this vehicle can really be transformed into a beautiful travelling cinema from the last century and you can discover this unique spectacle as the very first.

À propos du porteur de projet

The first show that garnered international attention for Circus Ronaldo in 1996 was developed on the road ...  Organically. Playfully. To the rhythm that makes a tree grow. Its peculiar brand of showmanship grows from within and every new movement has deep roots in their old family tradition. These roots and traditions are continuously fertilized by an ever changing audience, new performers, passionate members of the team who enrich the company and the strong influence of being on the road. In the meantime, Circus Ronaldo has been playing for over twenty years in prestigious theater houses and at major circus and arts festivals all over Europe and far beyond. But with the same love and passion, they still play in the smallest villages in Flanders.

Gust Van den Berghe is a Belgian filmmaker with a diverse artistic background in dance, music and theater. He has also worked in the Opera and as curator for Museum M. He currently teaches at the film department of KASK Ghent, where in addition to his classes, he is also developing a PhD. Rain Anyway is his fourth feature film, after Lucifer (2014) filmed in Mexico, the blue Maeterlinck film Blue Bird (2011) and the Felix Timmermans' adaptation Little Baby Jesus of Flanders (2010) in collaboration with Theater Stap. His films have been awarded several times and have played at various festivals both nationally and internationally.
